Creator pod
I wanted to share my love for 3D printing and CAD modelling with other students as a medium to express themselves creatively, so I established Creator Pod club in my school to teach students to design on CAD softwares such as SolidEdge, Shapr3D, and Blender. I also organized summer camps to give an accelerated introduction to CAD and 3D printing to students in middle school and help them bring the ideas they couldn’t put into words to life. I want to offer them a refreshing perspective on how to approach problems and visualize ideas in 3D. My summer camps increased club enrollment 4 folds.
I‘ve learned we often forget to consider the why behind our designs. I hope we can break out of this linear approach to innovation- think beyond what we believe we can achieve. Everyone should be able to design their dream world in 3D and someday make it a reality!
ROTARY CLUB
Recently, I introduced the Rotary Interact Club to my School. This global initiative aims to develop leadership skills and foster a sense of social responsibility among students. Over the next few months, I will help organize various community service projects, embracing the core values of Rotary: leadership, service, integrity, and fellowship. These activities will bring my school community together and allow future School Captains to make a tangible impact in our local area, embodying the ethos of 'Service Above Self.'
UNITED NATIONS
As a Social Justice Leader for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), I engaged in meaningful discussions on relevant and pressing issues, such as gender equality, climate change, education, and fighting discrimination and poverty. I took the initiative of organizing sessions to raise awareness in my school and community, along with other students, to give a voice to the transgender community through “Sandhya” program where I spearheaded all initiatives and recruited guest speakers.
st. john's high school
As the School Captain (Head Boy), I have helped organize and participated in many community and co-curricular activities. I volunteered to mentor my peer (an international underprivileged student) as part of the school's "Study Buddy" initiative, in which I helped him study for all his subjects and adjust to social and cultural life at school. By the end of our program, we had become close friends and I humbly submit that I learnt from him as much as he learnt from me.
I initiated the Edmund Rice Peer Mentorship Program (PMP) to support and destigmatize mental health for boys, which was especially relevant in an all-boys school. Through PMP, students are paired with upperclassmen who act as their mentors by sharing experiences and insights into dealing with not just academics but also social life and extra-curriculars.
To strengthen my organizational and leadership skills, I helped organize and anchor major national events like the St. Johns All India debate (SJAID) which is at the national level, as well as "Coalesce", a STEM competition to promote learning and application of sciences and mathematics. I was a part of the organizing committee of the John's Model United Nations Conference, Sports Day and Rotary Club. I also established Creator Pod, a 3D printing and CAD modelling club, which I discussed in detail below.
